Hello everyone, I'm Rami‌. Today, let's step into Xuecheng Ancient Town in Li County, Aba. Tucked in the valleys of Western Sichuan, this millennium-old town let me truly feel the thousand-year historical warmth and the romantic charm of intangible cultural heritage rooted in Tibetan-Qiang lands in China.

古镇的灵魂，一定是这座筹边楼。这座矗立千年的古楼，始建于公元830年的唐代，是晚唐名将李德裕为安定边疆、融通民族、筹措边事而建，距今已有1196年历史。它不只是一座观景古建，更是大唐治理川西、汉羌民族团结的千年见证。

The very soul of this ancient town is none other than Choubian Building. This thousand-year-old ancient building was first built in 830 AD during the Tang Dynasty, constructed by Li Deyu, a renowned general of the late Tang Dynasty, to stabilize the frontier, promote ethnic integration and handle border affairs. It has a history of 1,196 years to date. It is far more than an ancient architectural site for sightseeing, but also a thousand-year witness to the governance of Western Sichuan and the unity between the Han and Qiang peoples in the Tang Dynasty.

千年前，这里是唐蕃边境的军政要塞，守护着西川四十州的安宁；中国唐代才女薛涛登临此楼，写下“平临云鸟八窗秋，壮压西川四十州”的千古名句，让这座小楼名扬天下。更让我震撼的是，这座古楼历经唐、明、清数次重修，依旧风骨犹存。今存主体为清代木质榫卯结构，古朴大气，飞檐翘角藏着中式美学，同时这里还是红色革命旧址，千年边关要塞叠加红色记忆，一砖一瓦都在诉说着厚重的岁月故事。

A thousand years ago, this place served as a military and political stronghold on the Tang-Tubo border, safeguarding the peace of the forty prefectures in Western Sichuan. The talented female poet Xue Tao of the Tang Dynasty once ascended this building and composed the timeless famous line:"Level with the clouds and birds, its eight windows frame the autumn; it towers over the forty prefectures of Western Sichuan in grandeur", which made this small building renowned far and wide. What strikes me even more is that this ancient building has undergone several renovations across the Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties, yet still retains its original elegant demeanour. The existing main structure is a wooden mortise-and-tenon joint structure from the Qing Dynasty, featuring a simple and grand style. Its upturned flying eaves embody the essence of traditional Chinese aesthetics. Meanwhile, this site is also a red revolutionary former site. The thousand-year-old frontier stronghold, layered with red revolutionary memories, makes every brick and tile tell a profound story of the passing years.

离开千年古楼，我邂逅了薛城最温柔的非遗文化——羌绣。作为羌族国家级非物质文化遗产，羌绣是刻在羌族血脉里的浪漫史书。这里的羌族妇女自幼习得刺绣技艺，不用打稿、随心走线，凭借数十种传统针法，将山河万物绣于布面，也把生活期许织进针脚。

Leaving the thousand-year-old ancient building behind, I chanced upon Qiang embroidery, the softest intangible cultural heritage in Xuecheng. As a national-level intangible cultural heritage of Qiang ethnic group, Qiang embroidery is a romantic history book engraved in the Qiang people's bloodline. The Qiang women here have learned the embroidery craft from childhood. Without drawing drafts, they follow their heart to guide the stitches. With dozens of traditional embroidery techniques, they embroider mountains, rivers and all living things onto the fabric, and weave their expectations for life into every stitch.

每一种纹样都有专属寓意：羊角花象征生生不息，流云纹样代表云朵故乡，花鸟瓜果寓意吉祥丰收，繁复对称的图案，藏着羌族人民对自然的敬畏、对生活的热爱。五彩丝线穿梭之间，呈现得不仅是精湛的手工技艺，更是羌族千年民俗、审美与文化的代代传承。

Every single pattern carries its exclusive implied meaning: the azalea pattern symbolizes endless vitality, the flowing cloud pattern represents the Qiang people's hometown above the clouds, while the patterns of flowers, birds, fruits and melons stand for good fortune and a bountiful harvest. Those intricate and symmetrical patterns hide the Qiang people's reverence for nature and deep love for life. As the colorful silk threads shuttle back and forth, what is presented is not only the exquisite craftsmanship, but also the thousand-year-old folk customs, aesthetics and culture of the Qiang ethnic group passed down from generation to generation.

一座筹边楼，见证千年边关岁月；一抹羌绣彩，织就民族烟火诗意。薛城古镇没有喧嚣的人潮，却藏着最纯粹的中国古建底蕴与少数民族文化魅力。这就是我眼中的美丽中国，厚重、温柔、生生不息。（来源/中国网记录中国）

Choubian Building bears witness to the thousand-year frontier years; one touch of Qiang embroidery's vibrant colors weaves the Qiang ethnic group's everyday life into poetic charm.
