Beautiful China in the Eyes of an International Student ⑥: Meeting Li County Across Mountains and Seas, Telling the World About the Tenderness and Passion of Western Sichuan
我们来自五湖四海、不同国度，怀揣各自的山海向往，跨越万里奔赴中国川西，最终相逢在这座温柔又厚重的小城——理县。出发之前，我们以为这只是一场普通的旅行，只为追寻世人向往的川西雪山盛景、自然风光。可当脚步真正踏足理县的土地，从碧波映雪的毕棚沟，到风光绵延的理小路，从古韵悠长的薛城古镇，到质朴静谧的甘堡藏寨、千年传奇的桃坪羌寨，我们才明白，理县的美，从不止于一眼惊艳的山河风光，更藏在鲜活的文化肌理、滚烫的人间烟火里。这场旅程，让我们从匆匆观光的过客，变成深爱此地、甘愿奔赴的追梦人，也让我们读懂了最美的中国诗意。
We come from all corners of the world and different countries. With our own yearning for mountains and seas, we traveled thousands of miles to Western Sichuan, China, and finally met in this gentle yet profound small town - Li County. Before setting off, we thought it was just an ordinary trip, only to chase the grand snow-capped mountain views and natural scenery in Western Sichuan that the world yearns for. However, when we really set foot on the land of Li County, from Bipenggou where green waters mirror snow-capped peaks, to the scenic and winding Lixian-Xiaojin Road, from the time-honored Xuecheng Ancient Town, to the simple and tranquil Ganbao Tibetan Village, and the millennium-old legendary Taoping Qiang Village, we came to realize that the beauty of Li County is far more than the stunning scenery of mountains and rivers that takes our breath away at first glance. It is also deeply embedded in the vivid cultural texture and the passionate daily life of the local people. This journey has transformed us from passing tourists who only stop for a quick sightseeing glance into dream chasers who deeply love this place and are willing to travel far for it. It has also allowed us to truly feel the most poetic charm of China.
初遇理县，是山河赠予我们的极致浪漫。我们曾看过世界各地的雪山湖泊，却从未见过这般温柔又震撼的景致。毕棚沟的雪山褪去了凛冽高冷的模样，静静沉睡在澄澈湖水之中，雪山为骨、碧水为魂，天光云影倒映湖面，每一帧都是治愈人心的自然画卷。蜿蜒绵长的理小路，是浓缩的川西景观长廊，一路串联森林、草甸、红石滩与连绵雪山，海拔起伏间，尽是大自然鬼斧神工的馈赠。行走其间，风携山林清气，目及皆是锦绣，让我们彻底打破了对川西风光的固有认知。原来最好的风景，从不是遥远的奇观，而是理县这般，山水相融、动静相宜，既能抚慰人心，又能震撼心灵的治愈之美。
Our first encounter with Li County is the ultimate romance bestowed upon us by the mountains and seas. We have seen snow-capped mountains and lakes all over the world, yet we have never seen such a scene that is both gentle and breathtaking. The snow-capped mountains in Bipenggou have shed their stern and aloof look, lying peacefully asleep in the crystal-clear lake. With snow peaks as the backbone and blue waters as the soul, sunlight and cloud shadows are mirrored on the lake surface. Every frame is a natural painting that heals our hearts. The winding and long Lixian-Xiaojin Road is a condensed landscape corridor of Western Sichuan. It strings together forests, meadows, red rock beaches and rolling snow-capped mountains all along the way. Amid the ups and downs of altitude, every scene is a gift from nature’s extraordinary craftsmanship. Walking along the road, the wind carries the fresh aura of mountains and forests, and every sight that meets the eye is a splendid view, which completely shatters our inherent perception of the scenery in Western Sichuan. It turns out that the best scenery is never a distant spectacle. Instead, it is the healing beauty like that of Li County, where mountains and waters blend harmoniously, and motion and tranquility complement each other, which can not only soothe the heart, but also strike a chord deep in the soul.
如果说理县的山水是一眼沦陷的惊艳，那么它的人文底蕴与人间温情，便是让我们念念不忘、心底扎根的温柔。我们穿梭在一座座千年古寨与古镇之中，触摸跨越千年的文化脉络，读懂藏羌大地的生存智慧与岁月沉淀。
If the scenery of Li County is a stunning sight at a glance, its cultural heritage and warm human touch are the tenderness that lingers in our minds and takes root deep in our hearts. We wander through one millennium-old ancient village and ancient town after another, touching the cultural veins that stretch across thousands of years, and gaining a deep understanding of the survival wisdom and historical precipitation of the Tibetan and Qiang land.
被誉为“东方古堡”的桃坪羌寨，是留存两千余年的羌族活态文明，黄泥青石垒筑的碉楼错落而立，迷宫般的巷道、精巧隐秘的地下水网，不用一钉一铆的古老建筑技艺，藏着羌族先辈顺应自然、守护家园的生存智慧。我们坐下来，跟着当地老人学习一针一线的羌绣，指尖触碰经纬纹路的瞬间，我们终于懂得，古老的历史从不是书本上冰冷的文字，而是可以触摸、可以体验、可以传承的鲜活故事。
Taoping Qiang Village, honored as the"Eastern Ancient Castle", is a living Qiang civilization that has been preserved for more than 2,000 years. The watchtowers built with loess and bluestone stand scattered in a well-arranged pattern. The maze-like lanes, the exquisite and hidden underground water network, and the ancient architectural craftsmanship that uses no nails or rivets all embody the survival wisdom of the Qiang ancestors to conform to nature and guard their homeland. We sat down and learned Qiang embroidery stitch by stitch from the local elderly. The moment our fingertips touched the warp and weft threads, we finally realized that ancient history is never cold words in books, but a vivid story that can be touched, experienced and passed down.
依山而建的甘堡藏寨，经幡摇曳、石屋连绵，户户相连的藏式民居错落有致，烟火袅袅、静谧安然。没有过度商业化的喧嚣，只有最纯粹的藏乡生活气息。古朴厚重的薛城古镇，青石板路镌刻岁月痕迹，街巷间留存着千年古镇的烟火余温，一砖一瓦、一巷一院，都在静静诉说着理县的过往岁月。
Built along the mountain slopes, Ganbao Tibetan Village features fluttering prayer flags and rows of connected stone houses. The Tibetan-style dwellings linked to one another are arranged in a well-proportioned way, with curling smoke rising from kitchen chimneys, presenting a serene and peaceful atmosphere. There is no hustle and bustle of excessive commercialization, only the most authentic atmosphere of Tibetan township life. The simple yet profound Xuecheng Ancient Town has bluestone paths engraved with the traces of years. The lingering warmth of daily life from the millennium-old ancient town remains in the streets and alleys. Every brick, every tile, every alley and every courtyard is quietly telling the past stories of Li County.
最让我们动容的，从来不止是建筑与风景，而是理县最纯粹、无界的温情。行走在街巷古寨，陌生的当地人会主动递上一杯温热的清茶，眉眼间是毫无防备的真诚笑容。这份质朴热忱，无关地域、不分国界，温暖了我们整场旅途。在这里，我们不再是远道而来的观光者，而是被温柔接纳的归人。我们不再只是隔着镜头观赏风景，而是真正走进这里的生活，融入这里的烟火，真切感受藏羌大地的淳朴与善良。
What move us most are never just the architectures and landscapes, but the purest, boundless warmth that belongs to Li County. Walking through the streets, lanes and ancient villages, the local strangers will voluntarily hand you a cup of warm tea, with unguarded sincere smiles in their eyes and brows. This kind of simplicity and enthusiasm knows no boundaries of regions or nationalities, and has warmed our entire journey. Here, we are no longer tourists from afar, but returnees who are gently accepted. No longer do we merely admire the scenery through the lens. Instead, we truly step into the local life, immerse ourselves in the everyday warmth here, and sincerely feel the simplicity and kindness of the Tibetan and Qiang land.
走遍理县的山山水水，我们终于读懂了大美中国最动人的模样。它有山河壮阔的自然之美，雪山碧水、林海草甸，每一帧都是治愈世人的川西秘境；它有沉淀千年的文化之美，羌绣灵动、碉楼古朴、古寨悠长，藏羌非遗文化生生不息、代代传承；更有真实的生活温度，民风淳朴、温情纯粹，烟火人间自有万般温柔。
After traveling through every corner of mountains and seas in Li County, we finally come to understand the most touching appearance of the great beauty of China. It boasts the breathtaking natural beauty of grand mountains and seas: snow-capped peaks and clear waters, forest seas and meadows, every frame is a healing hidden gem of Western Sichuan that soothes people’s hearts. It has the cultural beauty accumulated over thousands of years, the vivid Qiang embroidery, the simple and unsophisticated watchtowers, the time-honored ancient villages, where the intangible cultural heritage of Tibetan and Qiang peoples thrives and passes down from generation to generation. Most importantly, it has the genuine warmth of daily life: the honest folk customs, the pure kindness, and the ordinary world filled with everyday warmth holds countless tender moments.
一场跨越山海的相逢，一次入心入怀的旅程，让我们与理县结下了不解之缘。我们来自不同国度，却在此刻拥有相同的热爱与感动。理县的山、理县的水、理县的人、理县的烟火与文脉，早已深深镌刻在我们心底。
A meeting that spans mountains and seas, and a journey that touches our hearts deeply, have forged an indissoluble bond between us and Li County. We come from different countries, yet we share the same love and touching emotions at this very moment. The mountains of Li County, the waters of Li County, the people of Li County, its everyday warmth and cultural heritage, have long been deeply engraved in the bottom of our hearts.
我们愿做理县的文旅推介官，带着这份跨越国界的感动，把这座藏在川西的宝藏小城推荐给全世界。愿每一个向往远方的人，都能奔赴理县，看雪山映碧水，品千年人文，遇人间温柔，在中国川西的烟火山河里，遇见最治愈的诗与远方。
